Hi there! This is Huseyin. A Turkish student studying master’s in International and European Relations at Linköping University in Sweden thanks to the scholarship that has been awarded by the Swedish Institute (SI) from September 2010 to June 2012. I am proud to say that I have been awarded a scholarship out of 250 applicants.
Since 2002, around 20 Turkish students annually are awarded SI scholarships for master’s degree studies in Sweden within the Swedish-Turkish scholarship program. SI scholarships are given within the fields of social sciences and environmental studies.
I received my bachelor’s degree in July 2007 in International Relations from Ege University, Izmir, Turkey and completed my compulsory military service in the Turkish Armed Forces between December 2007 and June 2008. After that I worked as a marketing assistant in an ICT company in Istanbul from August 2008 to September 2009. Due to the economic crisis in Turkey, I lost my job and decided to pursue a master’s degree abroad. All that effort led to a happy ending in June 2010 when I got the selection results for scholarships. Since August 2010, I’ve been living in Linköping and exploring Sweden and its culture.
Currently I’m writing my thesis on Common European Asylum System and looking for internship opportunities in Brussels and in some other European countries.
